We recently had the opportunity to work with a local family that had a vision to build a custom home on their land in Caldwell. They had several acres of land and wanted to build a home that had more space for their family to enjoy. They already had a nearly 4,000 square foot, 4 bedroom home plan selected and they came to Pathway Builders looking for an affordable home builder that could help them build the custom home plan they had selected at a price within their budget.
Background Of This Custom Four Bedroom Home In Caldwell
After moving to Idaho from Washington state several years ago, this family purchased several acres of land in Caldwell with the goal of eventually building a more spacious home. Their plans also included room for farm animals and eventually a barn for the additional animals they wanted to have. When they contacted us at Pathway Builders about building their home, they already had a spacious 4,000 square foot home plan selected that included a 3 car garage and 4 bedrooms.
Because the house wasn’t the only structure they wanted to build on their land they were looking for a home builder that could bring their vision to life within their budget. After reviewing the plans and providing an estimate, they decided to work with us to build their vision. In order to maximize their budget, while still building the home they wanted, they requested that we leave the bonus room over the garage unfinished to come back to at a later date. This allowed them to work within their budget and on the timeline in which they were hoping to move into their new home.
A Fully Custom Four Bedroom Home In Caldwell
As this home plan was not originally a Pathway Builders home plan the entire plan was custom. There were several unique features that this family loved about their plan. One was the two story main living area, which gave the space a more grand and open feel. This four bedroom home in Caldwell also had a second story loft area for additional living space that included details like additional floor outlets for convenience. The four bedrooms were laid out on either side of the loft with the additional bonus room above the garage on the opposite side of the house as the second story loft area.
With the two story living area, the second story had a custom railing, designed to match the black finishes selected for their home. Each of the three and a half baths and the kitchen had upgraded black finishes. The primary suite had a separate standalone tub and shower and the remaining bathrooms included tile showers. The kitchen had two tone cabinetry and a full tile backsplash along with an oversize island and walk-in pantry. There was also a separate beverage station for added convenience.
Another custom element was the side facing, three car garage. This gave the family additional storage space and hid the garage when viewing the house from the front. There was also oversize built in shelving in the mudroom for even more storage space.
Challenges During This Home Build In Caldwell
The subdivision the home was built in had no architectural requirements and very few requirements. The only challenge that occurred during this build was related to the road access within the subdivision; however, the road access did not delay the certificate of occupancy. From foundation to finish, this four bedroom home in Caldwell was complete within five months.
